Scores of Merseyside Arts organisations will be entitled to apply for a share of a £20,000 cash jackpot scheme announced today.
Under the new Active Arts Scheme launched as a joint promotion by the Liverpool Echo and the Liverpool Empire Theatre Trust, cash grants of up to £2,000 each will be awarded to local organisations including – but not restricted to – Dance Schools, Artistic Venues, Drama and Theatre groups, Orchestras, Operatic Groups, Choirs, Poetry groups and Writers.
To enter, organisations must propose details of an entirely new initiative they want to create within their own organisation and an award of up to £2,000 will help them pay for it.
The organisers are emphasising that each project must be a new venture rather than an existing one and would simply not happen if the cash grants were not available.
Likely projects could include such areas as new shoes or costumes for a struggling dance group, a software & printing system to enable projects to be promoted more cheaply, a new set of stage curtains or even a set of soft cushions for a choir.
The Chairman of the Liverpool Empire Theatre Trust, Mr Terry Smith, said, “This is really the second part of a scheme where we organised a Royal Gala performance of Blood Brothers to mark the Theatre’s 150th birthday a few months ago.”
“We decided to spend the proceeds on something entirely new that would appeal to relatively smaller Arts organisations which are often full of great ideas and enthusiasm but often without the cash to make them happen. Soon they will have the cash and we are looking forward to some very original proposals.”
HOW TO ENTER.
The closing date for entries is November 1st 2017 and the winners are expected to be announced during December 2017.
All types of organisations are invited to enter and they do not have to be a registered charity.
Apart from details of each organisation making an entry, details of each
proposal must be limited to 100 words and submitted on line by the closing date. There is no limit to the number of projects that an organisation can submit.
Applications can be accompanied by a short video expanding on the project but this is not essential and the technical quality of the video will not be a judging factor.
