Call for volunteering projects for young people

Merseyside Expanding Horizons, The Joseph Lappin Centre, Mill Lane, L13 5TF, Liverpool

Merseyside Expanding Horizons is involved in an Erasmus+ project involving young people in volunteering projects abroad.

They are recruiting 15 young people (not engaged in education, employment or training) living in Liverpool and interested in intercultural issues for a 2 or 6 month volunteering project in the field of migration in Italy (Sicily) or in Greece (Kalamata or Thessaloniki).

Young people will  be involved in projects supporting newly arrived migrants to develop values of citizenship, solidarity and tolerance.

Before departure they will be trained in :

- Intercultural Communication – Fundamental Rights of migrants – Reception and integration of migrants in Greece/Italy – Security, health and safety.

Young people might leave in:

- April 2017

- May 2017

- June 2017

- September 2017

- October 2017

- March 2018

 

The project will cover:

- Flights – Insurance – Food – Accommodation – Local Transport – Pocket Money – Training

This is a volunteering project, they don’t expect young people to have any formal skills and competences, rather the motivation, willingness to learn, open-mildness and enthusiasm.
