For two years now MDI have been working on developing a three year dance and health strategy. This is now complete and we have also built a programme of work, which includes delivery of dance work across the region, bespoke community projects, artist CPD and training, and creation of new work on a community and professional level.
Our partners include: Liverpool PCT, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Aintree Hospital, Asthma UK, The Alzheimer’s Society, English National Ballet (Dance for Parkinson’s), Sense of Sound, First Take, Tate Liverpool, Sure Start as well as many smaller independent community groups and charities.
MDI feel that this is a unique programme which aims to deliver valuable and beneficial dance and movement work for groups, individuals and communities across Merseyside with the intention of making a positive impact on the vast health inequalities experienced in this region AND nurturing an interest in dance as an art form through providing opportunities to engage with the creation and performance of community and professional level dance work and performances which are focused on a particular health issue.
