Screen Print Induction

Saturday 03/04/10   1-5 pm

This workshop will show the full process of screen printing onto fabric using non-toxic materials and equipment built from recycled materials, to empower participants in every part of the process and provide equipment inductions so that you can come back and use the studio to develop your work further. Participants need to bring an A6 high contrast black and white photocopy on acetate, which will be exposed onto a screen during the workshop and printed in black onto calico.

Bookbinding

Saturday 10/04/10  1-5pm

Using the priciples of traditional hard-back book binding techniques, this workshop shows you how to create beatuiful and unique books from recycled or virgin papers.

Domestic Sewing Machine Induction

Saturday 17/04/10   1-5pm

This Workshop will give you basic operation and maintainance skills for using a domestic sewing machine, as well as some handy tips and techniques from an experienced machinist. Entitles you to come back and use the machines to develop your work further. Suitable for begginers or as a refresher course.

Devore Screen Printing

Textile Artist Christine Toh gives an introduction to Devore, a method that dissolves the top layer of fibre in velvet or specialist linen to turn your printed or painted area into translucency or relief finishes. Ideal for those who have previously done our UV screen-print induction, but also suitable for those without screen print experience.

Textile Repair and Alteration (Fix It)

Saturday 08/05/10    1-5pm

A surgery for both clothing and furnishing textiles, bring your own items and get get specialist support to alter or restore them to your specifications. This workshop shows you techniques and skills that can be used time and time again to lengthen the life of your textiles and make your clothes fit as if they were made for you.

Denim Garment Deconstruction

Saturday 15/05/10     1-5pm

Learn how to create a stylish denim skirt from an old pair of jeans, whether you want a mini, maxi or mid length skirt, Sara Li-Chou Han from local recycled clothing label Trashed Couture shows you the basics and a few tips on how to customise your skirt to make it truly individual.

Basic sewing skills are required. Bring your own jeans and additional fabric for customisation or buy a second hand pair on the day for an extra £5 (please state size when booking if needed).
